<image:caption>“Unbelievable…. be prepared to not put it down. I started this book at 2:00 today and only paused to eat dinner. It’s 10:15 and I just finished. Wow…the first thing I did was jump online to see what else she wrote. I hope Seahorse is not her last! This was an unbelievable read. Incredibly well written and I miss the characters already. Thank you Khara and please write more!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Here I am on Station 19. This was just a background gig, but I ran my ass off in what is about 20 pounds of clothes, from 10pm to 4am, in downtown LA summer heat. Funny-not-so-funny story: my hair extensions got so sweaty and matted underneath this helmet that I had to not only cut them out, but cut my hair - and I mean, 8 inches shorter. It was the only time I ever cried chopping my hair. (Will share that story - and pictures) in my blog.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Cause and AFFECT - Don’t just talk about it…</image:title>
<image:caption>Be about it. When I wrote Seahorse, I knew I wanted to do more than just talk, more than just create awareness about rare cancers that could destroy ANY of us. I wanted to help. I committed to learning what I didn’t know, and delivering that research through the art of story to others who didn’t know either. That research illuminated one thing: we must do better. So much money has gone into cancer research and funding over the years, and yet, chemotherapy is still our best bet? A treatment that kills all our cells, not just the cancerous ones. Some patients aren’t even strong enough to receive chemo - what options are they left with? How is this the best we can do? I am not a doctor, nor do I have the answers, but together, we can fund the researchers who are on the hunt for them. Recent studies are showing progress in immunotherapy and mRNA vaccines - similar to the COVID vaccines many of us received - that boost our immune systems while training our bodies to track and destroy the cancer cells. A pledge here is a pledge for progress, and a pledge to protect yourself and your family. Cancer doesn’t care if you’re young, old, black, white, male, female, trans, gay or straight. It doesn’t discriminate. #ItsJustUs fighting for each other, fighting to do better, so we can all live the life of our dreams. *While we don’t have our own fundraising, we support Shepherd Therapeutics, an organization formed by a young fighter who was diagnosed with a rare head and neck cancer at the age of 27. Today, David Hysong fights for all of us. Please check out Shepherd via the hyperlink, and/or donate below.</image:caption>
